Any person desiring to perform work on owned or leased property must file an application and obtain the required permit from the Town of Welaka. This work must either be performed by a licensed contractor or by an owner builder specifically exempted from the state contractor licensing laws.
Permit submittal requirements include 2 sets of plans, product approvals and checklists (if applicable for the scope of work). The application will be reviewed by the appropriate departments, once approved a permit will be processed at which time the applicant will be notified. The applicant must come in person to sign the permit and pay the required permit fees. Inspections must be scheduled once the work is under way, re-inspections are not scheduled automatically. Inspections only take place on Wednesdays so must be scheduled in advance.
The Welaka Town Hall office hours open to the public, are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; the office is closed for lunch from Noon to 1:00 pm.
