Mayor Sands's funeral service will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the pavilion next to the Welaka Town Hall

Mayor Sands's funeral service will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the pavilion next to the Welaka Town Hall. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Welaka. A viewing will be held Friday evening, March 26, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Watts Funeral Home in San Mateo. The public is invited to attend both the visitation and the funeral service. The family has requested that we broadcast the funeral service on the Town of Welaka Facebook page for those unable to attend.

The family chose the Welaka Town Hall pavilion as the funeral service place because the Town Hall and the pavilion were where Mayor Sands spent a large amount of his time serving our town. The pavilion was where he found great happiness being a part of our Springfest and giving out toys to the children after our Christmas Parade. The family felt it only fitting his funeral service to be held in that same place.

The Sands Family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to Welaka residents for their prayers, acts of service, and words of comfort during this most difficult time.
